Lovere, Lago Di Garda and Rome

Oh Italy, Italy! I think Italy is by far my favorite country in the world. Back in the summer of 2010 I arrived to this amazing country for the first time. Early on in the Spring of the same year I was making plans to volunteer abroad, and after a little research of volunteer organizations around the world I narrowed it down to an organization called Volunteer for Peace (VFP). VFP has tons of projects worldwide and they help you connect with the host organization in your country of interest. For me, I knew from the get go that I wanted to go to Italy, so after browsing the list of projects in the VFP website I narrowed it down to a program hosted by an italian organization called Legambiente. Legambiente mostly deals with issues of preservation and conservation of the environment, and they have multiples programs throughout the year around the country. In the section below under Lovere (Lovere is a lovely town located in the province of Bergamo, in Lombardy, at the northwest end of Lake Iseo), you will see some of the photos from that experience.

Top left (the building used to be an elementary school, but during my stay in Italy
that was the place that was hosting the volunteers).

Bottom right (view of Lake Iseo from Lovere).

Most of the work involved trail clean-up and maintenance at a local reserve.
The dry stone wall above were covered with undergrowth and
the scrub brush was then taken out in plastic bags.

The open field where these Olive trees were growing
 was cleaned up as well.

Countries represented: Poland, Czech Republic, Serbia,
Lithuania, South Korea, Armenia and at the time I was living in Texas.
